Preliminary Product Development
We are not new to the running of a school canteen business, having run an existing one in a private education campus. However, we had been spending the past two years developing a more robust, a more scalable and sustainable F&B business model (school canteen considered as one type of F&B business). We figured that we need to gather a couple of core ingredients: (a) inexpensive rental, (b) pool of trustworthy and responsible staff, (c) a concept that naturally attracts, (d) an F&B outlet which generates a decent revenue stream, after all business has to be self-sustainable. We did not settle on anything firm but went on an “investigative” market research on-site, engaging people in meaningful conversations and doing our basis desktop study.
It took us some time and we actually developed a list of crazy ideas along the way.
